_The 100-km challenge will cover the most scenic trails on South Lantau, for a cumulative elevation gain of 5,900 meters. This is a challenging trail run which requires adequate training to complete the full route within 30 hours. The route includes steep climbs and downhills, the highest climb being the Lantau peak (934m).
This race is semi-self sufficiency (9 refreshment posts are located along the route). To enroll for the Lantau100, you must be a finisher of a 100km trail race OR a 50-km trail race in <12h within the last 2 years. Training advice is available to help you successfully complete this challenge.
Starting time and location: Saturday March 16, 2013 at 9:00 am (Time limit: 30h); Silvermine Beach, Mui Wo.
On-site check-in and bag drop will start at 8:00 am.
There are ferries from Central (Pier 6) or Buses from Tung Chung MTR.
For overseas participants, Mui Wo is located at 40min from the airport. Check the location on the map. We provide a list of convenient hotels on Silvermine beach (start/end location), click here.
Course markings, checkpoints and map
The route will be marked with Yellow ribbons and signs at intersections. There will be 9 refreshment points (see locations on map) with drinking water, electrolytes, and food (only water at the CP1). First Aid will be present at most of the check points and at the finish (see map).
The maximum time allowed to complete is 30 hours. Cut-off at several check points will be set accordingly to ensure that all runners cross the finish line within this time limit.
