SHARE WITH THE CHILDREN OF NEPAL & KENYA BY DONATING YOUR UNWANTED TRAIL GEAR!

As trail runners and nature enthusiast we all know that Nepal is home to some of the most breathe taking trails in the world.  Yet; with this beauty comes immense contrasts – the mountains make life extremely difficult for 83% of the population.  As a result of limited access to water, health care, schools and infrastructure 55% of the population live below the poverty line, 41% of children are chronically malnourished, 1 in 17 children will never reach their 5th birthday, 45% will not completed primary school and 20% will never go to school.

A HK based charity, Child Welfare Scheme (CWS – www.cwshk.org) addresses the unnecessary suffering of children in Nepal by providing them with education, health care and opportunities which will change their lives forever.

In Kenya children also face extreme poverty and lack of opportunity and access to every day necessities.  In contrast to many other countries in the world running is not a hobby as such in Kenya, running is much more. It is a necessity. The average Kenyan 18-year-old has run 15,000 to 18,000 more miles in his life than the average American. What's even more striking is that nearly all those than run in Kenya do so with no shoes, old shoes or ill-fitting shoes. 58% of Kenya live on less than $2USD a day and a life expectancy of just 55 years, is it any wonder Kenyans see running as a way out and a chance at a better life?

KIPMOVIN is a Hong Kong based fitness and running training company founded by Thomas Kiprotich, a Kenyan who knows firsthand about training as an elite runner without a pair of shoes. Thomas now takes every chance to help out his fellow countrymen and collects unwanted running shoes for adults and children, and race shirts and distributes them amongst his community back in Kenya.

The Raidlight Lantau50 proudly supports CWS and KIPMOVIN to help these disadvantaged communities.  The Lantau50 goal is to share, race and learn.
We invite you to share with the children of Nepal and Kenya by donating any of your unwanted back packs and running shoes.  So clear out your wardrobes for a great cause!
