Hi Kin,
the route will be fully marked with ribbons and signed so it is not an orienteering race. You should not get lost. However, if you want to go on the route before the event, you will have to use the map we provide on the website. I will upload a higher definition as you requested.
Hope this can help,
Do not hesitate to contact us if any question,
Clement

請問組別是以年份或出生日期作界線? 例如: 我是1972年9月30日出生,我是那組別呢?

1972 & below are in the Senior category, which means you are in the Senior. I just added on the website (and soon will add in Chinese...)

Hi Tong,
on the website, there are pictures available of the route that gives you landmarks. The map is also in high definition.
From the pier, you should go to the Plaza (start), then heading to the beach, then turn left at the toilets (or playground) to hit stairs. Continue in order to reach the main road that you will cross to hit the trail (steep stairs). From there, you follow the trail to get to the highest peak that you will see on your right. From the top, follow the trail and then check the pictures on the websites to find your way.
Hope this can help. The easiest is with a GPS. For the event, the route will be well marked with pink ribbons.

Have fun on trails,
Clement

Thanks for your help.Tried the first 25kms yesterday under misty/foggy condition and therefore could not really have a good look on direction by relying on the slides.

After Tiger Head with the big rocks,I went down on the right little trail as indicated on the slide but eventually returned to take left(facing the rocks) and still managed to reach Pak Mong.Have I taken a longer route? Do not have the impression that I saw the ruined house and toilet either before getting on the Olympic Trail.

With the slippy condition yesterday,it is an additional and BIG challenge to meet the cut off time of 6 hours!

It's fun anyway.

Hi Tong,
yes, weather was not a its best yesterday. You added ~1km by taking the route on the left at the rocks. The regular route is a bit shorter but more technical.
Not sure what you mean by the ruined house but basically once you are on the Olympic trail, you run almost to the end and the left turn to the Sunset ascent is ~200m before reaching the highway.
Depending on the weather condition on the race day, the cut-off time may be adjusted.
Best, Clement

Hi there, I just wanna know how it works for a team of 2? A relay run?

Is a regular hiker suitable for the game? consider the 12hr limit.. Thanks : )

The team (2 participants) must run/hike the whole 50km together, it is not a relay.
The Lantau50 is a challenging race and previous experience in trail running is recommended. To finish within 12h, you still have to run few flat sections although it is probably feasible hiking most of it.
As an alternative, there is the Explorer15 which has no time limit.

Would you consider to raise the cut off time to reach CP3 Nam Shan to ,say 7hrs since the first 25km is much more difficult than the remaining 26km.

We should not be too strict with the 6h cut-off (~+30min), especially if wet weather.
Hope this can help,
Clement

Yes, there is a bus stop on the highway to go to Tung Chung but very few buses. Otherwise, there is a trail which goes up to Tung Chung along the highway and it takes ~30min

Indeed, the trail can be hard to find sometimes, especially in the fog! But no worries, on the race day, the trail will be well marked with Pink Ribbons.
If you download the GPS file available on the website on your GPS, then you won't get lost.

We tested trail from CP3 Nan Shan to CP4 and Mui Wo without difficulty this Saturday afternoon.
However, we fail to identify the route to reach Discovery Bay after Tung Wan Tau. Following your picture "Turn right, go over the sand to the trail", we were able to locate the point "Take the right at this fork" . We then took right and were not able to locate the "Go over the Creek", not to say "Take the left trail" afterwards. We only came across a fallen big tree blocking the trail about 50 -100m from the fork. About 500 metres after this fallen tree, we came around a 1.5m vertical concrete slab marked Jockey Club plantation donation on our right hand side. This was where we had stopped and retreated back to Mui Wo.
Question : what is the approximate distance between the fork and the creek. Or had we taken the right trail but not far enough to reach the creek ? Suggest to put up more marking in this section of the trail because some runners like us will probably arrive this section in the evening.

For Mui Tsai Tun (302m), the bare rock about 25m before reaching the top is a quite dangerous place, especially in wet or foggy conditions because the left hand side is exposed like a cliff. Suggest to put up some hazardous warning.

Clement,

Nice to meet you on Sunday.Any additional bus service arranged so far on the race day? Looks like it will be a chaos when 400+ Lantau 50 people all go for the 6:30 am/7:00 am slot whether by ferry or bus.

Thanks.

Hi Tong,
Each ferry can take 300 people (6:30 and 7:00am) and we added buses, now every 10 min from 6:30am (6:30, 6:40, 6:50 and 7:00am). This will be mention in the next newsletter tonight.
Thanks,
Clement

Any course photos prepared for pre-walk like last year? Would be nice to have since the starting point and the first part of the route are different from last year.
